I-575 at Barrett Parkway and Mall Blvd

Current Status
as of February, 2012

Project Description: This project will create an additional I-575 south bound off ramp lane to Mall Blvd. This new lane will have a barrier separating traffic on Barrett Pkwy and will be only for commuters traveling to Mall Blvd.

The existing right turn lane will remain for those who wish to continue west on Barrett Pkwy. An additional outbound lane on Mall Blvd. will be added to separate drivers who plan to travel east on Barrett Pkwy from drivers who plan to proceed straight into the Marshall's shopping center. This will allow a longer green light to the largest number of motorists.

Specific Project Status:

This project is nearing the completion of the PE and R/W. GDOT will provide funding for construction and the TCACID will fund the costs of Right-of-Way acquisition.

The project should be let on or by the date set by GDOT (May 18, 2012.)

The attached concept shows the existing situation (see purple lines) and the proposed changes (see green lines). The project involves the interstate, and therefore, GDOT and FHWA oversight is involved.
